Fostering Healing Through Tea and Conversation

Empowering Minds: Our Commitment to Mental Health Awareness

Tea & Reflection is a mental health peer support group/community working on reducing the stigma around mental disorders in Nigeria, especially in the northern parts of Nigeria.

The community provides a safe space where people can share their personal experiences in contemporary issues in mental health such as anxiety, depression (which according to The World Health Organization, is one of the most ignored and misunderstood mental disorder in Nigeria, with about 7million Nigerians suffering from it), PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), OCD (obsessive compulsive disorders), eating disorders and a bunch of other mental disorders.

The group teaches people to learn ways to cope better with the stresses of life through her group therapy sessions over a cup of tea.

The initiative raises awareness about mental health issues and educates people about the importance of mental health in our communities, utilising social media platforms, podcasts, and awareness campaigns, including road walks.

Our Story

Our Journey Toward Mental Wellness

Founded in 2022, Tea & Reflection has rapidly grown in response to the urgent need for mental health support in Northern Nigeria, establishing a vital support network.

Our Vision

Our vision is to ensure that those experiencing mental health issues can access immediate support while fostering a culture of empathy and understanding. We are committed to breaking the stigma around mental disorders, educating the public on risk factors and healthy coping mechanisms, and encouraging fulfilling, resilient lives. By doing so, we hope to strengthen the bonds among communities in Niger State and across Nigeria, highlighting the crucial role of mental health in national development.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide firsthand assistance to individuals facing mental health challenges in Nigeria, particularly in Niger State. We aim to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, challenge societal attitudes that uphold harmful norms, and offer a safe, supportive space especially for children and youth to navigate their personal struggles. Through education and advocacy, we seek to raise awareness about the significance of mental well-being and promote a more informed and compassionate society.
